Carna Cottage

Stunning views and perfect wildlife watching!

Carna Cottage is an original farmers ‘Blackhouse’ that has been modernised over the years to provide warm, comfortable and fully equipped self-catering accommodation overlooking the private pontoon and tranquil shoreline. The cottage conservatory and dining kitchen windows provide a wonderful and unique viewing platform from which to watch our abundant wildlife. Otters feed and fish on and around the pontoon in front on a daily basis whilst seals swim past heading through Caol Chàrna narrows to our right and both eagles often perch on ‘the bridge’ in full view.

This warm and comfortable two bedroomed loch-side cottage, which sleeps a maximum of 6 people, has a wood burning stove in the lounge, electric lighting provided by the island solar panels, kitchen dining room with fridge freezer and gas cooker, family bathroom and large conservatory. There is a unique freedom to explore on land and by boat this stunningly beautiful and secluded area, so free from light pollution the Milky Way lights up the sky on clear nights.

Carna cottage has optional wifi included with a smart tv in the lounge supporting Amazon firestick, netfix etc. and a DVD player. There is a USB and 13amp, 3 pin charging socket in the kitchen.

Outside is a wonderful stone built BBQ with the best ever views!

Whether coming here to learn about our wildlife and habitats, photograph it or simply get away from the stresses of life we can shape your visit to find just what you’re looking for.

We have just returned from a memorable and magical stay for a week on the Isle of Carna. This is an amazing location and we and our three dogs had a fantastic week. The views from the cottage kitchen and conservatory are spectacular. Basically these rooms are the best wildlife hide imaginable with the bonus of food and drink to hand! We had regular sightings of Otters and seals and to watch an otter hunting in loch close by in front of the cottage was superb. ….With the cottage you get the sole use of a boat with outboard to explore the area which we loved to do. ….If you want a real get away from the rat race holiday with fantastic scenery and wildlife on your doorstep then Carna Cottage is ideal. We loved it and will definitely be returning

We stayed on the Isle of Carna for a 5 night short break in Carna Cottage. Although the cottage is quite basic it does have everything you actually really need and the views, privacy, freedom, wildlife and use of the boat make it a magical place to both totally unwind and also be adventurous. ……Andy and his team are lovely and so supportive, they were always happy to answer our queries and it was great to know that someone was watching out for you just in case we needed it. We were slightly concerned about the lack of telephones, TV and even radio at first, but we quickly realised that this is what makes the place so special and how much we didn’t need them! Hope to go back soon.
