Carna House is a rare find, a place where you can genuinely switch off. Warm yourself by a roaring log fire, fall asleep to the sound of the sea, and wake to the sight of a loch glittering outside the kitchen window. No road noise, no rush. Just the occasional bark of a rutting stag drifting across the water.

Sleeping up to eight guests across four characterful bedrooms, this is the ideal setting for families and groups who want unhurried, meaningful time together. Whether that means a lochside barbecue, a board game by the fire or a long walk through wildflower meadows to the island’s summit.

  • We absolutely loved our week at Carna House. Swimming in the loch every day, exploring around the island on our little boat, fishing for & eating fresh mackerel. Finding the top of the island (a real adventure!).

    We saw seals, otters & eagles and could hear the stags calling every day across on the estate. Playing games in front of the log fire every night, and the one night when it was clear some amazing star gazing! Andy was the perfect host and looked after us very well. If you are thinking of visiting don’t hesitate, it’s such a unique place to escape to and just switch off.

  • Everything about our stay at Carna was wonderful including the weather!. The House was a great combination of comfort and the ‘off-grid’ experience. The gas lights etc were easy to operate and there was loads of instant hot water. The boat was provided with plenty of petrol and all the necessary equipment for us and as beginners we found Andy’s tuition excellent and had no problems at all. Our two dogs had a ball. We only left the island to fish but getting back to Laga would have been straightforward if we had needed or wanted to explore further afield. As it was we were content to stay in the peace of the island for the week.
