Carna Cottage

Carna Cottage is a modernised Blackhouse on the lochside, with otters at the window and the Milky Way overhead.

Carna Cottage is a converted traditional Blackhouse, sympathetically updated to make it warm, comfortable and fully equipped for a self-catering stay. Sit in the conservatory with a coffee and watch otters feeding in the shallows, seals drifting past the narrows and eagles perching on the old bridge. The wildlife here doesn’t require a walk or a wait.

Sleeping up to four guests, with a sofa bed for two more, this is an ideal base for couples and small families who want peace, dark skies and the kind of scenery that’s hard to find anywhere else in Scotland.

The Isle of Carna has no light pollution, so on a clear night the Milky Way is visible overhead. Beyond that there’s the shoreline to wander, a private pontoon, a stone-built outdoor grill and miles of open landscape to explore by foot or by boat.

  • Another fantastic week at Carna Cottage. This was our 6th time and it was just as enjoyable as our 1st visit. We spotted Eagles most days and even managed to photograph them ! Seals and Porpoises in the bay in front of the cottage every day. Wonderful location and a great experience would highly recommend if you are looking for something different.
